End of February 2012 cameras started rolling for the Italian two-part TV-movie “K2 – The Italian Mountain” in Tirol. Directed by Robert Dornhelm, the actors Marco Bocci, Massimo Poggio, Michele Alhaique, Giuseppe Cederna, Giorgio Lupano, Alberto Molinari and many Tirolean actors are starring in this historic movie.
Stunning locations in the mountains of Tirol such as Hafele Kar just above Innsbruck, Hall in Tirol, Rinn and Oetz Valley stood in for the story of the first ascent of K2 by Italian mountaineers in 1954.
“It is amazing – just 20 minutes outside of Innsbruck, the Capital of Tirol, you find yourself in the middle of base camp and high camp on the 2nd highest mountain in the world” – says Johannes Koeck, head of Cine Tirol.
“K2 – The Italian Mountain”, produced by Red Film srl., Rome in Co-production with Terra International Film for Italian TV station RAI, is entirely shot on location in Tirol with support of Cine Tirol Film Commission. The shooting continued until end of April 2012.
